The Hemisphere VS-i8 is a high-precision inertial navigation system (INS) that integrates Hemisphere’s Athena RTK engine with Honeywell’s top of the line IMU technology. Get accurate time-stamped positions, velocity, angular rate, linear acceleration, roll, pitch, and heading information. Designed to be lightweight, compact this solution is ideal for marine, UAV, robotic, mapping, GIS, LiDAR, mobile mappping and applications requiring a high degree of accuracy in a compact position.
An INS system is comprised of an inertial measurement system (INS), a GNSS reciever, and sensor fusion software. This allows for the calculating of positions, orientation and velocity to deliver position when satellite coverage is lost. This allows for the maintaining of highly accurate positions in areas where satellite service is otherwise denied including; urban canyons, under bridges, tunnels, moutains and more. Once initialized, the VS-i8 does not require further satellite corrections and can provide sub-meter accuracy after satellite lock is lost for 30 seconds. The velocity accuracy is accurate to 0.15 m/s horizontal and 0.03 m/s in the vertical for up to 60 seconds after satellite corrections are lost. Heading can be maintained to within 0.08° for 60 seconds.
