Carlson’s GIS is the premier software package for processing GIS data. This is the package engineers turn to when they need to get work done quickly while keeping the cost down. Jam packed full of features that make life easier, this is the software the experts choose.
Carlson GIS includes quick commands for not only processing data attached to drawing entities but also for drawing cleanup and conversion. To do this, Carlson GIS relies on three methods for adding additional data to projects: AutoCAD Map, Carlson GIS links and Carlson note files. For ease of use, links can be converted between these formats, speeding up work and reducing confusion and mistakes.
The AutoCAD Map links require one of the following AutoCAD Map versions: R2, R3, R4, R4.5, or R5. The commands for this method are in the Map and MapPlus menu and are available only if you are running AutoCAD Map. The AutoCAD Map drivers support multiple database formats including Microsoft®, Oracle and dBase. When using Map links, you have both the standard AutoCAD commands to work with in addition to the GIS 2009 MapPlus commands. The drawback to Map links is that they require more steps to setup and use.
With tools for data linking, labeling, import/export of SHP files and polygon topology creation and analysis Carlson GIS is like a “Swiss Army Knife”, the tool for the job is always there.
